Cyprus tax rules are undergoing significant changes. Below is an overview of who is required to file a tax return, depending on the relevant tax year.<\/p>\n
Under the current legislation and the Decree of the Council of Ministers, individuals are required to file a tax return if their gross income exceeds \u20ac19,500.<\/p>\n
From 2026 onwards, the scope of individuals required to file a tax return will be significantly expanded. A tax return must be submitted by any person who meets at least one of the following criteria.<\/p>\n
income from business activities or employment;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
dividends and interest;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
pension income;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
income received pursuant to a court decision, will, or contract;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
rental income;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
income from intellectual property and patents;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
income from real estate;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
income from the sale of crypto-assets;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
income related to the breach or termination of a contract.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
or<\/p>\n
is aged between 25 and 70 years, inclusive;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
is required to file a tax return regardless of the amount of income received.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The Council of Ministers reserves the right to exempt certain categories of individuals from the obligation to file a tax return by issuing a special Decree.<\/p>\n
